About Me.

Picture
I have been buying and selling art for almost 30 years.  I look for art to collect, and then sell, that meets one of these five tenants"

Art that is able to turn the simple into the sublime, like Joseph Cornell for one example.

Art that is able to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, Robert Rauschenberg, for example.

Art that is able to transform the weird into the wonderful, Jean Michele Basquiat, for example.

Art that incorporates text as visual poetry, such as the work of Glenn Ligon.

Art that uses color as material, such as the work of John McCracken.

These guiding principles have helped me, and can help you, acquire both visually beautiful, and intellectually thoughtful works of art.

EDUCATION
Tulane University, BFA, Graduate School Scholarship for Psychology
I serve as the Mayor's Ambassador to the Arts of the 4th largest city in the United States.  I have been on, or am currently on, most every visual arts organization in Houston, including the Houston Arts Alliance, which is the quasi-governmental agency overseeing the funding of all the arts in Houston.
AWARDS / RECOGNITION

The art that I hold in inventory has earned me the honor of being listed by ArtNews as one of the top 200 Collectors in the World, and by Art and Antiques as one of the top 100 Collectors in America making a difference in the art world.

I am also an artist, having over a dozen solo shows in galleries in Houston, San Francisco, and San Diego.  I create abstract photo works with no web manipulation.  These works can also be found on the website LESTERMARKSART.COM
